Evergreen Shrubs

Shrubs are the foundation of a landscape, and add structure, texture and interest without adding a lot of work. Brightly adorned with bold colors or buttoned up like boxwood, shrubs are not afraid to take up space while serving as impressive privacy hedges.

Shrubs add fragrance, beautiful color, privacy, structure, and can be a great wildlife habitat. We offer a wide selection of shrubs including both deciduous and evergreen shrubs.

Evergreen Shrubs (Subject to availability)

  • Arborvitae – Emerald Green (Thuja occidentalis)

    An upright, pyramidal conifer evergreen, with bright lustrous, emerald green foliage. Grows 1′ per year, reaching 10-15′ tall and 4′ – 5′ wide. Needs very little pruning to maintain shape. Excellent hedge plant. Full sun.

  • Arborvitae – Fire Chief (Thuja)

    A colorful dwarf evergreen shrub, producing a compact, rounded habit. Foliage is a feathery, bright gold in spring, turning sage green, topped with red tips in summer and fall. Grows to only 3-4 ft. tall and wide. Full to part sun.

  • Arborvitae – Green Giant (Thuja standishii x plicata)

    An excellent narrow evergreen, good for screens and barriers in tight spaces. To develop a living fence, plant at 3-5 ft. spacings. Can grow to 15 ft. tall or more and 4-5 ft. wide, but can be maintained at lower heights with trimming. Full to part sun.

  • Arborvitae – Tator Tot (Thuja occidentalis)

    A dense, extremely compact, globe-shaped evergreen shrub, with rich, green foliage. Rarely needs trimming. Grows only a few inches per year, reaching 12-24″ tall and wide. Full sun to part sun.

  • Azalea – Assorted Autumn Encore (Rhododendron)

    Rebloomers! An excellent flowering shrub, evergreen if protected from winter sun. Flowers in spring and again in mid to late summer! Maintain at 3′-4′ tall and wide. Morning sun and afternoon shade is best.

  • Boxwood – 2 Ball Poodle (Buxus)

    Excellent specimen plant for landscapes. Trained into poodle balls, trimming is required to maintain these shapes. Overall height will change very little over the years, do to this shape trimming. Full to part sun.

  • Boxwood – Green Mt. Pyramidal (Buxus)

    An excellent dwarf evergreen shrub features unusual pyramidal growth. Trim to maintain height and width. Grows 3′ – 5′ x 2′ – 3′. Use as hedging or topiary. Full sun to partial shade.

  • Boxwood – Green Velvet (Buxus micro. ‘Green Velvet’)

    A full bodied evergreen well suited for foundation landscape plantings or hedges. Foliage retains its rich green color throughout winter. Dense, rounded form if left unsheared. Moderate growth rate, easily maintained at 3 to 4 ft. tall and wide. Full to part sun, but can tolerate shady condtions.

  • Boxwood – Uptight (Buxus micro. Uptight)

    A very hardy and compact, upright growing Boxwood with green leaves that don’t winter burn. Excellent for hedges or individual plantings. Grows in a columar habit and can easily be maintained at any height under 4-5 feet. Sun or shade.

  • Boxwood – Variegated (Buxus hybrid)

    A colorful evergreen, featuring rounded green leaves with creamy white edges. Grows slowly and can be easily maintained at 3 ft. tall and wide for many years. Sun or shade.

  • Boxwood – Winter Gem (Buxus hybrid)

    A very hardy and compact, dark green evergreen shrub, great for the landscape. Grows into an almost perfect, round ball, around 2-3 ft. tall and wide. Good Boxwood Blight resistance. Sun or shade.

  • Doghobble – Paisley Pup (Leucothoe fontanesiana)

    An unusual broadleaf evergreen, featuring variegated foliage in shades of pink, green, white and bronze. Tiny bell-shaped, white flowers appear along the branches in late spring. Grows to 3-4 ft. tall and wide. Prefers shade to part shade.

  • Holly – China Boy (Ilex x meserveae)

    An excellent broadleaf evergreen shrub, used as a pollinator for China Girl Holly. No berries on this male plant. Grows 8-10″ per year, and can be maintained at 4 ft. tall and wide. Full sun to shade.

  • Holly – China Girl (Ilex x meserveae)

    This broadleaf, evergreen shrub boasts a profusion of bright red berries each fall. Use China Boy Holly as a pollenizer. Grows 8-10″ per year, and can be maintained at 4 ft. tall and wide. Full sun to shade.

  • Juniper – Blue Rug (Juniperus horizontalis)

    A trailing juniper having a uniform, full centered growth habit with intense silver-blue foliage. Excellent evergreen for large scale ground covers or cascading over walls. Full sun. Fast-growing to 6 in. tall, spreads 6 to 8 ft. wide.

  • Juniper – Daub’s Frosted Sculptured (Juniperus)

    This version of Daub’s Frosted Juniper is a trained, sculptured, evergreen specimen plant, featuring bright golden, new growth. Trim once or twice per year to maintain the sculptured appearance. Full to part sun.

  • Juniper – Old Gold Sculptured (Juniperus)

    This Old Gold Juniper is a trained, sculptured specimen featuring a graceful, compact growth habit with new growth a bright, golden yellow. Trim once or twice per year to maintain sculptured appearance. Full to part sun.

  • Pine – Coney Island Dwarf White (Pinus strobus Coney Island)

    This unique, dwarf pine produces 5″ long, blue-green needles on short internodes, resulting in a dense habit. Bears numerous, decorative grey to blue cones in summer. Grows to around 5 ft. tall and 3 ft. wide in 10 year. Great accent plant for the landscape. Full to part sun.

  • Pine – Scotch Sculptured (Pinus sylvestris)

    This version of Scotch Pine is a trained, sculptured, evergreen specimen plant, great for smaller areas. Maintain size as wanted with yearly May pruning, during the candle stage. Full to part sun.

  • Pine – Taylor’s Sunburst (Pinus contorta)

    Taylor’s Sunburst Pine is a dwarf, compact ornamental evergreen, featuring bright, golden yellow new growth contrasting nicely with the green older growth. The striking color lasts for weeks, gradually changing to light, yellow green. Grows slowly to 8-12 ft. tall 8 ft. wide. Full to part sun.

  • Pine Grafted – Bosnian (Pinus leucodermis)

    This grafted version of Bosnian Pine is a compact, slower growing form of the species. Long, dark green needles are accented by unique purple-blue cones when young, gradually changing to brown. This specimen grows to 15 ft. tall. Full to part sun.

  • Rhododendron – Assorted (Rhododendron)

    A broadleaf evergreen shrub that blooms in late spring with large showy flowers. Loves loose, acidic soils, so best to prepare the planting site with good topsoil and any amendments needed for porous soil, and acidic conditions. Protect from hot, dry winds and winter sun, so best planted on north or east side. Feed with miracid. Grows 4′-6′ tall and wide. Full to part shade.

  • Spruce – ‘Little Gem’ Globe (Picea abies ‘Little Gem’)

    Grows 6′ tall and 2 – 3′ wide. Rich green needles on crowded branches form a dense, flat topped globe. This dwarf evergreen globe conifer requires practically no maintenance. A stunning accent in the landscape. Full sun. Extremely slow grower forming a compact head 18 inches in diameter.

  • Spruce – Blue Bird’s Nest (Picea sp.)

    A standout in the rock garden, forming an attractive broad dense globe, its thin branches covered by blue-gray needles. An evergreen requiring practically no maintenance. Full to part sun. Grows only 2 ft. tall and 3 ft. wide.

  • Yucca – Color Guard (Yucca filamentosa)

    Bright gold edged green produces a dense clump of foliage that glows in the sunlight. Develops a dense rosette of 18 inch grass green variegated leaves. Blooms early summer with a 2 foot spike of dramatic white, bell shaped flowers. Full to Part Sun.

  • Yucca – Excalibur (Yucca filamentosa)

    This evergreen Yucca forms a uniform, spiky, rounded clump of sword-like, blue-green leaves. Its habit is more uniform and is overall smaller than other species. Does well in low water and rock gardens, tolerating dry soils. Grows 1-2 ft tall and 3-4 ft wide. Full to part sun.
